Will Smith Confirms Bad Boys 3 is Just Months Away

The American independent film director and producer Joe Carnahan, displayed his interest in directing Bad Boys 3 back in June, then in August, it was claimed, that Sony had officially put the long-awaited sequel on their release calendar for 2017, along with a particular place for Bad Boys 4 in 2019.

Not much else has been announced about the third installment of the Bad Boys franchise, however, as Newsweek described him to be the most powerful actor in Hollywood - Will Smith, has officially confirmed that Bad Boys 3 will be released very soon.

The American actor and producer said in an interview with Zane Lowe in the Beats 1 Studio, "There is a very, very, very strong possibility that you will be seeing 'Bad Boys' within the next 12-16 months."

As stated by Will Smith, the movie is really happening, and the production should start soon to hit the released date in February 2017 for Bad Boys 3 as promised by Sony, with Bad Boys 4 following on July 2019.

However, there were no words out yet if Will Smith will actually return to reprise his role alongside with the American comedian and filmmaker - Martin Lawrence, or if Will Smith will merely act as producer with new, younger actors taking on the Bad Boys franchise.

In addition, before the possibility of Will Smith reprising his iconic role in the Bad Boys franchise, Smith will star in DC Comics adaptation Suicide Squad as Deadshot which is slated to hit theaters next year. There's no specific details about what kind of story arc Will Smith's role will have in the David Ayer helmed flick, but it has previously been reported that Will Smith will definitely play one of the leads in the movie.

Will Smith remarked, "Suicide Squad film is crazy," Smith added "I've never actually met Jared Leto. Jared and I worked together for 6 months and we've never switched a word outside of 'Action!' and 'Cut!' I literally have not met Jared Leto yet. So, the first time I see him will be 'Hey, Jared. What's up?' He was all in on the Joker."
