Hugh Jackman is about to star in a new film that would depict the life of the apostle Paul and in line with it, the actor was not ashamed to reveal his faith to the public.
During an interview with Parade Magazine, the actor who became famous for playing the role of Wolverine in the X-Men movie franchise, said that he was raised very religious.
Christian Post also featured this interesting fact about Jackman and his bold statement about what he believes in and his views about God. He said, "I'm a Christian. I used to go to different evangelists' [revival] tents all the time. When I was about 13, I had a weird premonition that I was going to be onstage, like the preachers I saw."
He also said that his passion along with his faith are giving a sense of peace. "There are things driving me that aren't all healthy-[needing] approval and respect to fill some hole who-knows-where in me," the actor explained.
He also added, "Am I worthy? All those fears. Through acting, I'm able to find a level of bliss and peace and calm and joy. And it feels natural." Jackman was not afraid to label himself as a religious person and that he dedicates his works to God.
The actor continued explaining his faith and its link to his career and work saying, "This is going to sound weird to you. In Chariots of Fire the runner Eric Liddell says, 'When I run, I feel His pleasure.' And I feel that pleasure when I act and it's going well, particularly onstage," Jackman said.
But despite of his bold statement in his faith, he chose to distance himself from evangelical churches, as he finds them too forbidding.
His upcoming movie called Apostle Paul is produced by him, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
