Kate Upton 2013 Model of the Year: Two-time Sports Illustrated Cover Girl Will Be Honored at Style Awards

Kate Upton was named the 2013 Model of the Year.

The two-time Sports Illustrated cover girl will be honored at the 10th Annual Style Awards in New York City. The event kicks off New York Fashion Week and is set to be hosted by Nicole Richie.

The 21-year-old blonde beauty made her debut in 2011 and has been working non-stop since.

She recently become the new face of acclaimed jewelry retailer David Yurman and starred in her first blockbuster "The Other Woman" alongside A-list actress Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann. According to IMDb, the film is about women who team up to get revenge on a two-timing man.

While being interviewed for the September cover story of Elle magazine, Upton confessed she "felt terrible" about herself after her first Sports Illustrated.

"I'm not a toy, I'm a human," she said. "I'm not here to be used."

But more than a year later, the model seems to have found her place in the industry. According to E! News, she made the transition from bikini model to high fashion starlet by gracing the covers of both American and Brazilian Vogue this year.

"People deal with models like they are children. They think they can pull one over on you," she said, explaining how she deals with getting the dumb blonde treatment. "It's actually funny. I'm always like, I'm about to pull something on you, and you're so focused on thinking I'm dumb you're not even going to know."

She will be given the biggest award of the night, but plenty of other fashion folks will also be on hand vying for 10 awards. According to Modelinia, nominees include Zac Posen, Victor Cruz, Frederic Fekkai, Patrick Demarchelier, Rachel Zoe and John Varvatos.

Upton fans may not be able to get a ticket to the Lincoln Center event, but it will be televised on Sept. 14 on CNN.
