Remember that time when Idris Elba sort of revealed that Tom Hiddleston would make an appearance in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' but Loki never showed up in the film? Director Joss Whedon had already explained that the Asgardian's scene was cut out because they didn't want the film to "feel overstuffed."
However, it looks like there were other reasons why Tom Hiddleston's Loki never made it to the final cut of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron.' Digital Spy recently sat down with the 'Crimson Peak' star, who shared some information on what was in the deleted scene.
"I was part of the dream sequence for the character of Thor," Hiddleston revealed. "I shot for a day and enjoyed it very much."
Tom Hiddleston also explained that the short scene had to be cut out of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' because people believed Loki was the real villain.
"I received a phone call from [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige," he said. "Basically, Kevin said, and I'm just gonna tell you the truth because it's the cleanest way of doing it, that in test screenings, audiences had sort of over-emphasized Loki's role; they thought that, because I was in it, I was controlling Ultron. It was imbalancing people's expectations, so Joss and Kevin said 'Let's cut it because it is confusing people.'"
Despite the fact that his only scene in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' had to be cut out, Tom Hiddleston didn't seem to mind the decision and confirmed that the movie worked better without it.
"It made sense to me when I saw the film," Hiddleston said. "Ultron was the bad guy and that was important. And that's why Loki wasn't in it."
Loki fans may need to wait a little longer before seeing the Asgardian back on the big screen. Tom Hiddleston is set to return as Loki in 'Thor: Ragnarok,' which is scheduled for release on July 28, 2017.
