Ellie Goulding Justifies her Australian Football League Grand Final Performance

The English singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding, has defended her pre-game performance at the Australian Football League Grand Final, after she appears to miss the cue to her backing track. Goulding, who won the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards, claims that she gave a 100 percent onstage despite the negative comments.

Ellie Goulding's two-set show was slammed on social media after the singer took more than half a minute to begin singing Love Me Like You Do - leaving some speculations that she was lip-synching.

But the Love Me Like You Do hitmaker replied to the comments on Twitter after the AFL event on Saturday night, Ellie Goulding claimed that she did not lip-sync and apparently the singer blamed the technician for the temporary interruption.

Goulding stated, "Incidentally the sound technician who pressed playback twice and caused both band tracks simultaneously is nowhere to be seen... ??" About an hour earlier, Goulding said she loved it when critics think she lip-syncs, because it is "a rad compliment". She added that, given that she wasn't on her top form on Saturday, she was satisfied with her performance.

She said, "Taking into consideration that I had no voice yesterday and a sleepless night because of the medicines, I would say it's been a good day :) thanks for the love." "I give 100 percent in my performances even when people don't give much back. My aficionados know that. That's because I love what I do so much. :)" "Truth be told I've been ill the past week and I could do with a long spell chill, but I made a firm decision to give everything for Oz today."

Michael Gudinski, the Grand final entertainment producer, also refuted claims that the singer lip-synced, Gudinski said in a statement, "Ellie performed live vocals to a backing track. This is a very common practice for performances in situations such as the Grand Final."
