Elena Gilbert may have left 'The Vampire Diaries' for good, but it looks like Nina Dobrev won't be out of work for long.
According to Deadline, the former 'Vampire Diaries' star will be joining the cast of 'Arrivals,' a coming-of-age indie film based on Fergal Rock's screenplay that was a 2013 Academy Nicholl semifinalist. The movie will be directed by Peter Hutchings and also stars Asa Butterfield of 'Ender's Game' and 'Game of Thrones' actress Maisie Williams.
Deadline offered some details about Nina Dobrev's character as well as the plot.
"Dobrev, who left the CW's 'Vampire Diaries' earlier this year after six seasons, will play American flight attendant Izzy, who is the love interest of Butterfield's character," the site wrote.
"Butterfield's Calvin is a hypochondriac college dropout who now works as a baggage handler at Cape Town airport. In a funk, he is pulled into the unconventional bucket list quest of Brit teen Skye, played by GoT's Williams, who also appears on 'Doctor Who' this season. That team-up helps Calvin to face his deepest fears."
Nina Dobrev will join Asa Butterfield and Maisie Williams when 'Arrivals' starts filming in South Africa later this year.
It certainly looks like Nina Dobrev is moving on after leaving 'The Vampire Diaries.' The former 'Degrassi: The Next Generation' star recently confirmed that there won't be a chance for Elena Gilbert to come back.
"That chapter is closed, sadly - It's bitter sweet," Dobrev told Entertainment Weekly.
However, the 26-year-old actress appears to be leaving TV in favor of roles in the big screen. Nina Dobrev recently joined Taissa Farmiga and Malin Akerman in the horror comedy 'The Final Girls,' which was screened at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. The film will officially be released on October 9.
There is no word yet on when the film 'Arrivals' will be released.
