50 Cent Domestic Violence Charge: Rapper Pleads Not Guilty to Claims by Ex-Girlfriend, Daphne Joy

Rapper and actor 50 cent has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and vandalism charges involving an ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, according to CBS News.

His attorney entered the plea Monday in Los Angeles. The rapper remained silent during the hearing.

The rapper, whose full name is Curtis Jackson was charged after Daphne Narvarez Joy reported he trashed her Toluca Lake, Calif. Condo. The woman told police that during a June 23 argument, she locked herself in her bedroom to escape from the rapper. Jackson reportedly kicked the bedroom door open and kicked her in the face. According to the police, there was $7,100 worth of damage.

According to ABC News, police said Jackson was gone when they arrived, and they saw broken items including chandlers, furniture and a television.

Joy told the police she's been with the rapper for three-years and they have a 10-month baby together. The rapper is asked to return back to court on Sept. 4 and is told to stay 100 yards away from Joy. He's was also order to get rid of his weapons by either handing them in or selling them to licensed dealers.

"She's going to cooperate with (prosecutors) in the sense of giving them what they need from her, like any other victim would," Joy's lawyer Stephen Sitkoff told the New York Daily News. "If this ends in trial, I assume she would testify. She'd like to get this resolved and put it behind her. She has no interest in bringing attention to herself. She just wants to live her life."

According to the Los Angeles Times, if the rapper is convicted, he could face five years in prison and be fined $46,000.
