'Alien: Paradise Lost' Update: Ridley Scott Reveals More Plot Details On 'Prometheus 2' [SPOILERS]

It seems like the world was recently stunned when Ridley Scott announced that there will be not one or two, but three more 'Prometheus' films coming up in the future. In line with this announcement, the 'Alien' director also confirmed the new title for the first sequel: 'Alien: Paradise Lost.'

But what will happen in the newly retitled 'Prometheus 2?' Will it be a continuation of the events that happened in the first film, where Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and the android David (Michael Fassbender) go in search of the Engineer's planet?

"Of course," Scott said during an interview with Yahoo! for his new film 'The Martian.'

The director also offered some explanation on the sequel's new title and how the film will follow Elizabeth's journey.

"Have you ever read 'Paradise Lost,' by Milton? In a funny kind of way, it's an interesting basis for the darkness of [Prometheus 2]," Scott said. "Where the good-looking guy, who is evil as s-t, gets all the girls and goes to the nightclubs. The other guy, who is not quite as good-looking, is boring as hell and stays home.

"So in a funny kind of way, we used that as the basis for it, it'll be 'Alien: Paradise Lost,'" he continued. "Which is very spooky, because it continues after the last one, where Elizabeth Shaw [Noomi Rapace] says, 'I wanna go where they came from.' And you've got Michael Fassbender in two parts, so she'll slowly put him back together. They will go to the world of the Engineer."

And what will they find in the Engineer's planet?

"They will find out who would design such an awful bio-mechanoid creature, like a massive piece of bacteria," Scott said.

'Alien: Paradise Lost' will be directed by Ridley Scott and is scheduled for release on May 30, 2017.
