'Blade Runner 2' Update: Did Ridley Scott Just Confirm Ryan Gosling To Star In Sequel? Was Harrison Ford A Replicant?

The sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic 'Blade Runner' appears to be coming along just fine, now that original director Ridley Scott has somehow confirmed that the film has found its star.

It was reported in April that Ryan Gosling was under negotiations to play the lead role in 'Blade Runner 2,' although there haven't been any updates after the news surfaced. However, in a recent interview with Yahoo, Ridley Scott may have admitted that the 'Drive' actor will be working on the sequel.

While talking about the future of other 'Blade Runner' films, Yahoo commented on Ryan Gosling being an excellent choice for a male lead.

"Yeah, and I got Harrison back," Scott said, admitting that the original Rick Deckard was initially not interested in the sequel.

"Because Harrison said, 'Meh,' and I said, 'No, read this.' And I think he said, 'This is the best script I've ever had.' We've been working on it for a couple of years," Scott said.

Ridley Scott was also reminded about a previous comment he made stating that Harrison Ford was a Replicant in 'Blade Runner.'

"Of course he's a bloody Replicant!" Scott said. "He's going to have to admit it."

Wait, don't Replicants die after four short years?

"I'm not going to tell you," the director responded. "You'll have to see the story. It'll all make sense."

Ridley Scott also confirmed that Ryan Gosling will then take over the franchise after Harrison Ford and that the movie will be set about 30 years after the first film.

"It was 2017, so coming back it'll be 2047, roughly," he said. "As young as you can play Ryan Gosling. He's 34, but he looks 27 when he's doing his push-ups. So maybe 2050."

'Blade Runner 2' will begin principal photography in summer next year.
