Is Nicki Minaj, 'Really' Fangirling Over Zendaya's Barbie?

Nicki Minaj couldn't hide her gusto as she appreciates Zendaya's Barbie Doll that was released this week.

Upon seeing the pictures of Zendaya's new Barbie doll, the singer-rapper Nicki took to Instagram her warm congratulatory message to Zendaya.

According to Inquisitr, there was nothing wrong on Nicki's post but the delivery of the message 'has caught the ire of so many irate critics'. As Nicki posted a picture of her own doll from 2011, and pointed out to her 34.7 million Instagram followers about her personal compliments:

"Did u know Barbie made me one a cpl years back? It was such an honor & a HUGE surprise."

After writing what she has personally achieved years ago, Nicki Minaj turned her attention - and praise - toward Zendaya, which is a subtle move to make it appear that the post is really about Zendaya's new doll - "I love your doll's hair! I love what it means for other little girls who will identify with it & be empowered. Continue to be proud of yourself girls!!!!!"

In a succeeding posts, Minaj tweeted photos of the two limited-edition Barbie dolls saying that they should have a "matching bff Barbie cars with the dreamhouse."

Critics of the posts have been quick to read between the lines -- even if Nicki wasn't trying to start an issue about the Zendaya Barbie, she surely could have caused a stir for her appearance at the Milan Fashion Week as she wears a blonde hairstyle that was reminds you of the usual Barbie dolls.

As ABC News reported, Zendaya praised Mattel - for choosing her to be a part of their diversity project, "When I was little I couldn't find a Barbie that looked like me, my...how times have changed. Thank you Barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be apart of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty."

Zendaya was privileged to be given a mini me doll version of herself following her eloquent response to wearing dreadlocks at the Academy Awards last February. After a Fashion Police report said that Zendaya smelled of "patchouli" and "weed," Zendaya took to Instagram to reprimand and shame the criticisms as laced with "ignorant slurs," People reported.
