Did Melisandre Predict Jon Snow's Death And Resurrection In 'A Dance With Dragons?'

The season finale of 'Game of Thrones' left audiences completely shocked over the unexpected betrayal and murder of the beloved character Jon Snow.

In the last scenes of 'Mother's Mercy,' the new Lord Commander is drawn outside Castle Black by Olly, who tells him a wildling knows Benjen Stark's whereabouts. Once outside, Jon Snow finds a post with the sign "Traitor" and is stabbed by the gathered Night's Watch men while saying, "For the Watch." The episode ends with Jon lying on the snow as his blood pools under him.

It is a tragic scene that nobody saw coming, except for one character who may have predicted Jon Snow's death in the fifth 'A Song of Ice and Fire' book.

According to Mashable, Reddit user wcc7777777 recently posted a theory about how Melisandre's conversation with Jon Snow in 'A Dance with Dragons' proves the Red Priestess may have predicted the Lord Commander's fate.

During the exchange, Melisandre tells Jon Snow that she had a vision about him.

"I have seen you in the storm, hard-pressed, with enemies on every side. You have so many enemies."

The Red Priestess also warned Jon Snow about his unknown enemies and advised him to keep Ghost nearby. Melisandre also mentioned the weapons that will be used in his murder and described exactly what the final 'Mother's Mercy' scene showed.

"It is not the foes who curse you to your face that you must fear, but those who smile when you are looking and sharpen their knives when you turn your back. You would do well to keep your wolf close beside you. Ice, I see, and daggers in the dark. Blood frozen red and hard, and naked steel. It was very cold."

Melisandre didn't just talk to Jon Snow about death. She also spoke about how the Lord Commander about her importance in his fate.

"This is my place as it is yours, and soon enough you may have grave need of me."

Find out if Melisandre will resurrect Jon Snow in 'Game of Thrones' when the sixth season premieres on HBO next year.
