"Nicki Minaj, I'm at MTV. I love you. I want you. I want you to be mine. I'm here at MTV because it's a worldwide network," he said in the video. "Only reason I'm not telling you this face to face is because I understand that you're busy. Ima be honest with you, I wanna marry you."

To viewers it may have looked like the famous producer was pulling a prank, but the mood quickly changed when it was seen that he was being serious.

"Nicki Minaj, will you marry me? We got the same symptoms, we both suffer from success. You out there touring, you're out there hustling, you're out there making music and you're out there winning. And I overstand," he said.

There have been no comments from the rapper's rep but she re-tweeted the video of the proposal on her Twitter account. Minaj has never publicly dated anyone since she stepped into the spotlight.

"That's why I feel like you need a man like me in your life that's gonna take care of you and respect you," Dj Khaled said. "If you have to take your time and think about it, I understand. But I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and how serious this is to me. I want to let your fans know, my fans know, my family, your family, that I want to marry you."

The rapper said he's been preparing the proposal for a long time. Rapper Rick Ross, who is reportedly best friends with the "No New Friends" star said that is was surprised by Khaled's marriage proposal.

"It was some chatter going around, but I can't say that I knew, but it was some chatter," Ross told Los Angeles' Power 106 host Rikki Martinez.
