No other name in the EDM world commands as much respect and recognition as Daft Punk. They are legendary and timeless. Artists from all genres tip their hats to the duo that had and continues to shape the music landscape. The fact that they keep their faces away from the public eye with their iconic helmets has only fueled their stardom to unfathomable heights.
The newest documentary about them, "Daft Punk Unchained," hints at the unmasking of the pair. Sure, a quick Google search will turn up old pics of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, but no official press pics of the two being the faces behind the name has ever been released.
The documentary was officially debuted for French viewers last June and a release date for the rest of the world has yet to be made. There is, however, a trailer which recently aired on BBC. Unfortunately, it only shows a bunch of TV clips from the early days of Daft Punk all the way until they received their Grammys in 2014.
Most of the trailer is content many hardcore fans already know about. But aside from old TV clips, it did feature other big names in the industry that had collaborated with Daft Punk such as Kanye West, Pharell Williams, Nile Rodgers, and songwriter Paul Williams. They spoke about the secretive duo's massive influence over the music scene.
What was new though came at the very last part where one half of Daft Punk unlocked his helmet to reveal his face. Of course, it cuts there, and invites people to check out their Facebook and Twitter page and to use the hashtag #DaftPunkUnchained.
