Just when everyone thought that Adam Sandler was down and out and potentially be done after the summer bomb Pixels, he pulled out a surprising victory at the box office, reteaming with Sony Pictures Animation for the animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 2, which raised more than $18.6 million for profit.
The film's impressive opening is the highest of the year for Sony, and even beat out the opening figures for the franchise's original film, as well as Sandler’s second-biggest opening after 2005’s The Longest Yard.

New additions to the cast include Mel Brooks as Count Dracula's father, Vlad; Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally as Jonathan's parents, Mike and Linda; and Asher Blinkoff as Mavis and Johnny's half-human/half-vampire son, Dennis.
