It looks like another piece of Star Wars merchandise may have revealed a huge spoiler for the upcoming film The Force Awakens. Latino Review has just discovered an interesting find in the recently released set of Star Wars trading cards that give us more insight into the allegiances of the film's main characters.
The cards indicate that John Boyega's character Finn may not be a Jedi after all, while Rey, the desert scrap hunter played by Daisy Ridley, is actually a force sensitive.
Last month, the official Star Wars Instagram account released a short video that featured Finn brandishing a blue lightsaber in the same snowy forest setting that new villain Kylo Ren was in during the first trailer. Additionally, an official movie poster created for the D23 expo also featured the character wielding the iconic weapon. These revealations lead many to believe that Finn will be the new trilogy's Jedi protagonist.
However, Finn is labelled as simply a 'Rebel' in the trading card game's classification system. Rey on the other hand, has the designation of both 'Rebel' and 'Jedi'. This discovery obviously has huge implications for the many theories surrounding both characters.
Director JJ Abrams previously revealed that Finn and Rey's true full names were under lock and key. Many theorists believe Rey to be the daughter of Princess Leia and Han Solo, which would make her a descendant of the Skywalker bloodline that forged Anakin and Luke. This new card game find certainly supports the idea that Rey can wield the power of the Force.
This isn't the first time Star Wars merchandise that may have outed a key character's backstory. A few weeks back, a series of voice recordings found in the new Kylo Ren action figure revealed some interesting facts about the character.
