Danny Pintauro From 'Who's the Boss' is HIV-positive

'Who's the Boss?' actor Danny Pintauro, who's also best known for his major role as Jonathan Bower in the 1983 film 'Cujo', has openly talked about his personal life issues and revealed he is HIV-positive, according to reports.

During his one-on-one interview with Oprah Winfrey on the 'Where Are They Now?' show, which was aired last Saturday, September 26, Pintauro said he was already diagnosed with an HIV infection back in 2003.

"I wanted to tell you this a long time ago, but I wasn't ready," he told Winfrey. "I'm ready now. I'm HIV-positive and I have been for 12 years."

The actor, who revealed himself as a gay man back in 1997 after claiming that a tabloid reporter said that his secret would be ousted with or without his permission, added that he underwent a regular check-up with his doctor and the findings came after that.

"You know, as a responsible gay man, you're getting an HIV test done every six months," he said.

Pintauro received this piece of unfortunate news "with a weird combination of feelings."

"There's this awful feeling of 'I'm never going to be able to have a good relationship, no one's ever going to want me. That was there and that was prevalent." He said. "You know, that moment, 'Oh God, I'm now going to have that conversation every time I meet someone. Who's going to want to love me?"

Besides bravely admitting that he's HIV-positive, Pintauro also revealed that he was engaged in doing crystal meth which ruins the immune system.

"Crystal meth takes away your inhibitions. I was experimenting and believe it or not, I thought I was being safe in that encounter." he said.

Pintauro admitted to his now-husband, Wil Tabares, about his real condition during their first date and shared that he wasn't scared at all.

"It was our first date and we hadn't even kissed and it was the first thing I told him. The first thing he said was, 'I'm not scared of it at all." he said.

Pintauro currently lives in Las Vegas with Tabares, whom he married last April 2014.
