Hugh Jackman Says Tom Hardy Should Be The Next Wolverine! Will Professor X Appear In 'Wolverine 3?'

There is no question that Hugh Jackman's portrayal of the mutant Wolverine in the 'X-Men' movies has been memorable and actually helped launch the Australian actor's career in Hollywood. However, the 46-year-old 'Pan' star has already confirmed that he will only be doing one more film as the adamantium-clawed Logan before retiring from the role.

But who could possibly take over as Wolverine in any future films?

In an interview with MTV, Hugh Jackman admitted that he has already considered the possibility that Wolverine will be played by a younger actor in the future.

"That's a great question. I haven't really given it a lot of thought," Jackman said. "I've been asked that question a lot and I'm always like, 'I don't want to be too easy on the studio to replace me.' I've still got one more to do, you know."

Hugh Jackman did address that 20th Century Fox might already be looking for his replacement.

"I'm sure they're already talking about it and there's some actor out there who's like, 'Shhh, keep it quiet but we'd like you next,'" he said.

So who does Hugh Jackman think should be the new Logan in future 'X-Men' films?

"I think Tom Hardy would make a great [Wolverine]," he said.

But before Hugh Jackman retires as Wolverine, there is a possibility the world will get to know Logan a little better in the still untitled 'Wolverine 3.' Jackman recently told Collider that Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart, will play a major role in the film and his relationship with Logan will be explored.

"I'll be really honest with you, the actual script in its full form we're up to about Page 60," Jackman said. "Obviously there's a treatment, so it's not fully done yet, we're not fully there. Patrick does figure in it that's for sure. I think it's a really important relationship but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas."

'Wolverine 3' is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017.
