Kevin Costner Sells South Dakota Land

Actor Kevin Costner is selling his 1,000-acre piece of land.

The actor is asking for $14 million for the land which is near the Old West gambling town of Deadwood in western South Dakota's Black Hills.

"He has a strong sense of loyalty to the area and it was a hard decision for him," real-estate agent Mike Percevich, said, according to the Huffington Post.

Percevich said it took months for Costner to make a decision on whether to sale the land. The listings come with three pieces of property. The asking prices are $7.4 million, $1.2 million and $5.4 million.

The lands includes the site of the ill-fated Dunbar casino report, a $100 million project that would include a golf course and a steam-powered passenger train, according to the Huffington Post.

"The kind of money and time that has gone into this is unprecedented," Percevich said. "It's a same for them, but a definite benefit for the next guy."

The land does not include Costner's Midnight Star casino and restaurant, the tallest of Deadwood's Main Street. The land also does not include the $6 million, Story of the Bison, which is major visitor's attraction.

Costner, who filmed his Academy Award-winning movie, "Dances with Wolves," in South Dakota, and his brother Dan proposed a construction plan for one of the land's resort in 1993. According to the Huffington Post, the brothers put several million dollars into the project. They decided to stop project after not receiving enough investors for the project.

"They out more into it then what they're asking," Percevich said.
