Is there a new Doctor in the house?
'Doctor Who' fans were understandably disappointed when BBC announced that Jenna Coleman is leaving the show for good. The 29-year-old actress, who plays the Doctor's companion Clara, is expected to step out of the series mid-season.
However, Jenna Coleman's departure isn't the only thing that could possibly shock 'Doctor Who' fans this week!
According to The Mirror, 'Doctor Who' producers are concerned that Peter Capaldi may be considering leaving the show as well.
"Jenna's decision to leave has shaken executives and they are now worried Peter will follow suit," a source said. "While they are keen to keep him on board they are discreetly drawing up future plans for the show and throwing around a few names as potential new Doctors."
Who is being considered to be the Thirteenth Doctor?
"Richard Madden is one of the favorites," the source confirmed. "He is young and has a great fan base. He proved a huge hit as Mellors in 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' and BBC executives are keen to work more with him. He also has the added bonus of being a huge sci-fi fan."
Richard Madden is best remembered as the brave Robb Stark in 'Game of Thrones.' The 29-year-old actor also happens to have the advantage of being around the 'Doctor Who' set in Cardiff most of the times when he is visiting his girlfriend Jenna Coleman.
In addition to dating the Doctor's current companion, Richard Madden is also a self-professed fan of the show. "I'd love to be in 'Doctor Who' one day," he once said. "I've watched it since I was a kid."
So what are the chances that Robb Stark will soon be the new Time-Lord?
According to The Mirror, sources have said Peter Capaldi admits that filming 'Doctor Who' is extremely tiring and doesn't leave room for him to work on other projects. However, the Twelfth Doctor has never expressed any intention of leaving the show any time soon.
