Nick Lachey sings love song about Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger.
The 98 Degrees singer teamed up with fast-food franchise Wendy's to host the Pretzel Love Song Event, a launch party for the summertime-only Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger.
"When Wendy's introduced the new sandwich, I think the response was so positive they referred to it as a 'love fest,' and I thought, 'What better way to get all these sentiment out than through a series of love songs?'' Lachey told the New York Daily News.
Wendy's used social media to get fans to tweet using the hash tag #PretzelLloveSongs. about the Pretzel burger. Lachey used the tweets from fans to write the original love songs.
"Throughout my career, I've been known to sing love songs, so that's kind where I came into this whole thing." Lachey told the Daily News. "It's just a fun project I've obviously never had the opportunity to write a song about a Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger before, so I thought, 'What the heck?' Let's take the opportunity and have some fun with it."
Accompanied by a guitarist, Lachey performed acoustic ballads with lyrics such as "Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger / it's a life changer / everything glorious in one sandwich."
"It's fun. Its not like we're winning Grammy's here tonight, but it was a fun project to do and certainly a great way to kick off this great sandwich," Lachey told the Daily News.
After his confession to the Wendy's burger, Lachey sang some of his more classic love songs, like "I do (Cherish you)" and "This I swear."
"I did not write that one about a bacon cheeseburger, but maybe I should have, he joked.
The event was held at the Wendy's on West 34th ST.
