Clive Barker Is Working On A TV Adaptation Of His Book 'Weaveworld'

'Weaveworld' author Clive Barker may be following Neil Gaiman's steps in taking a fantasy book and bringing it to life through a TV series!

According to Deadline, the 'Hellraiser' producer will serve as executive producer on the small-screen adaptation of his book 'Weaveworld.' The series is being developed by The CW with the help of 'Warehouse 13' showrunner Jack Kenny.

Clive Barker's book 'Weaveworld' was published in 1987 and was nominated for the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1988. The story follows Cal Mooney, who discovers a magical world known as the Fugue hidden in an old woman's carpet. Cal teams up with the woman's granddaughter Suzanna to save the carpet from the powerful sorceress Immacolata, who wants to destroy the Fugue and all of the magical people who live in it.

But don't expect the 'Weaveworld' TV adaptation to stay too close to the story's details. Deadline reports that the TV series will be give the novel a "contemporary makeover." The description for the show reads as follows:

"In the TV adaptation, an app designer teams up with a young pastry chef who has just discovered that she is destined to be guardian of a mythological realm that can be accessed through a portal in an old Savannah mansion. Together, they fight an epic battle with evil forces who are vying for control of the magical world."

Clive Barker would have no problem working on an adaptation of his novel, as he has previously had most of his works being made into films. The movie 'Hellraiser' is based on his book 'The Hellbound Heart' while 'Candyman,' 'The Midnight Meat Train,' 'Book of Blood' and 'Dread' are all inspired by Clive Barker's short stories.

'Weaveworld' is not the first novel to be turned into a TV series. Earlier this year, Starz announced that they are working on a TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods,' which will be executive produced by 'Hannibal' creator Bryan Fuller.
