Chef and healthy food advocate, Jamie Oliver is on another adventure to help everyone live to the age of 100 by eating foods that he dubbed as "Super Foods".
As the 40-year-old restaurateur travels abroad in search for the perfect ingredients for the best diet that will offer the best chances of living a long life. As the Daily Mail reports that in his new series, Jamie's Super Foods, he travels to Costa Rica, Okinawa in Japan and the Greek island of Ikaria, to discover all their healthy diets and try it for himself.
In Costa Rica, Oliver cooks and eats with five generations of a family, including 106-year-old Jose. Costa Ricans are well known for their low-calorie, low-fat, vegetarian diet, that's why living to 100 is not unusual.
The Greek Island of Ikaria, people are well known to live an average of ten years longer than elsewhere in Europe and North America. The rates of cancer and heart diseases are also lower, primarily because of the healthy eating habits they have.
"It's not about goji berries and green drinks. It's about cooking smart with simple foods... They're all using humble ingredients to make some of the simplest and tastiest dishes I've ever tasted." Oliver said in his show.
The chef also says that increasing water intake, eating fewer portions of meat, and having a large breakfast are the keys to have a healthy diet.
"When I've gone around the world to see the people that live the longest and most productive life, they all have a good breakfast," explained the chef.
