Paramount's 'The Big Short' Gathers Its Stars: 'Brad Piitt', 'Ryan Gosling', 'Christian Bale', and 'Steve Carell' Headline Movie

Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Steve Carell will take on Wall Street without George Clooney in upcoming film "The Big Short."

With Adam McKay directing, the movie follows four ostensibly bond and real estate derivative geeks who manage to predict the recession of the late 2000s. The guys bet against the collateralized debt obligation bubble, thus striking it rich.

"When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to see - the global collapse of the economy - they had an idea: the Big Short," Deadline reported. "Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking, where they must question everyone and everything."

"It's kind of like betting the "Don't Pass" line, for the craps players out there,"
Variety shared. "These guys, who were really just trying to stick it to the big banks (which themselves would of course be bailed out), hit the jackpot while the American dream was being flushed down the toilet for regular Joes in the real world."

It is based on Michael Lewis' non-fiction book, who is also the one behind the book called "Moneyball" which inspired Brad's 2011 film and the "The Blind Side" which inspired the 2009 film that earned Sandra Bullock her first Oscar.

For starters, Paramount acquired the rights of the 2010 book "The Big Short: Inside The Doomsday Machine" to develop it into a film. Director Adam was set to write and directed the film on March 24, 2014.

The reels began rolling on March 18, 2015 in New Orleans, Louisana. The film also stars Byron Mann, Finn Wittrock,Hamish Linklater, Jeremy Strong, John Magaro, Karen Gillan, Marisa Tomei, Max Greenfield, Melissa Leo, Rafe Spall, Tracy Letts and Selena Gomez in a cameo role.

"You know what, I'm pissed off," Steve's character, Steve Eisman, says in the trailer. "And I'm getting madder and madder." "The whole world economy might collapse," Ryan's Greg Lippman adds.

"The Big Short" is going to be AFI's closing-night gala film on November 12 before it opens limited on December 11 and goes wide Dec. 23.
