'Game Of Thrones' VFX: Find Out How Daenerys' Dragons Are Brought To Life! What Will Happen To Drogon, Viserion And Rhaegal In Season 6 [VIDEO]

Bringing a dragon to life is not a simple task. In the book series 'A Song of Ice and Fire,' Daenerys Targaryen had to step into her dead husband's funeral pyre with the petrified dragon eggs and survive the fire before they could hatch. She ended up burning away her clothes and hair, although Emilia Clarke manages to keep her wig intact when the scene was reenacted on the TV series 'Game of Thrones.'

Now that Dany's dragons are all grown up, the visual effects team at Pixomondo have to work extra hard to bring Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal to life. The international visual effects studio recently posted a video on their Youtube channel showing the process of creating the 'Game of Thrones' dragons from scratch.

Daenerys Targaryen's dragons play a major role in Season Five, although they are only seen in a few episodes. Drogon, the largest and most aggressive of Dany's children, was featured in a dramatic scene when Tyrion Lannister and Jorah Mormont enter Valyria. He also saves Daenerys when the Sons of the Harpy attack at the fighting pits. Drogon has black scales and is named for Daenerys' late husband Khal Drogo.

Viserion and Rhaegal were both chained by Daenerys under the Great Pyramid when Drogon goes missing after killing a little girl. Their incarceration in Season Four has led to the two dragons being more aggressive, although Rhaegal is believed to be more hostile than Viserion. Rhaegal has green and brown scales and is named after Dany's brother Rhaegar, while Viserion has cream and gold scales and is named after her other brother Viserys.
