In all certainty, food holidays aren't real ones, but that shouldn't stop those who truly love one particular item of food to celebrate it on the day it's supposed to be honored, as there are holidays dedicated to everything from beer to pizza and even donuts - so, of course a National Cheeseburger Day 2015 was in order!
In case you missed National Cheeseburger Day 2015, it was celebrated last Friday, September 18; however, do not fret, there are still plenty of places out there where you can celebrate the heavenly combination of a nice patty and some delicious cheese on top.
According to Time Magazine, one of the biggest chains offering National Cheeseburger Day 2015 deals beyond the Friday date is Burger King, as right now, when downloading their official app, patrons can get a coupon that can be exchanged for a choice of two sandwiches for $5.
And just a couple of days after their National Cheeseburger Day 2015, Burger King's teaming up with a few other fast food chains (though not McDonald's) for the Peace Day Burger, so that's certainly not something to be missed.
AJC.com reports that some other National Cheeseburger Day 2015 deals include Shake Shack, as the fast casual chain currently has a special offer for high school or college students, as they can get a BOGO free offer on burgers just by showing their ID; and on Burger Study Buddy Monday, the second burger showing that same ID is free!
According to The Huffington Post, the cheeseburger dates all the way back to the 1920s, and it turns out the actual origins of this genius idea aren't all that certain, as there are at least three legends: one of the possible cheeseburger inventors was 16 year-old fry cook Lionel Sternberger from Pasadena; a Los Angeles eatery by the name of O'Dell's was serving something called a chili cheeseburger around that same period and a Denver man by the name of Louis Ballast trademarked the name "cheeseburger" in the same period.
In any case, enjoy the National Cheeseburger Day 2015 in style!
