Bryan Singer Instagram: ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Director Reveals Next Project, Adapting Classic Science Fiction Jules Verne Novel

Nineteenth century author Jules Verne is often considered one of the fathers of science fiction literature, having penned some of the most notorious novels of this genre over the course of his life, including the classic "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," which has been revealed through Bryan Singer's Instagram to be the director's next project!

Over the past few months, Bryan Singer's Instagram has often been filled with little bits of information about the last film he shot, namely "X-Men: Apocalypse" starring the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult, but now he's using the social network for a different purpose: announcing his next project!

According to Deadline, Bryan Singer's Instagram shows he's currently working on a new version of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," following a great number of adaptations of the 1870 book.

While there had been talk that Disney was developing a new adaptation of the book, it would seem from Bryan Singer's Instagram that this is an entirely different one, and it's believed that he might be working with 20th Century Fox for the film after developing the story on his own - however, there's officially no studio attached to the project as of now.

As Variety reports, Bryan Singer's Instagram announcement came during his birthday, as he celebrated hitting the 50th landmark on his age by saying he'd finished the script and he'd dreamt of retelling the classic story.

"It's my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film," wrote the multiple Emmy nominee on the social network. "A story I've wanted to retell since childhood. I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart."

According to Den Of Geek, those people thinking Bryan Singer's Instagram announcement will mean he's dropping from "X-Men" can rest assured, as the "Usual Suspects" director also announced the isn't leaving the mutants any time soon!
