Marijuana edibles is making its way into the market, it is often used in the medicinal field. As per the Detroit News, the Michigan State law makers are reviving bills to legalize various selections of medical marijuana products and dispensaries. The team of four is making an effort in having these marijuana infused products back in the market on where they were sold after last year's effort was cancelled due to last minute criticisms from law enforcement and health groups.
One of the bill sponsors that is in favor in using medical marijuana is Rep. Lisa Posthumus Lyons. She is in favor of parents who are using medical marijuana as an alternative in having their children's illnesses treated. She then stated that she would do exactly the same if her child would be in need of the medical marijuana treatment.
But court decisions and complexities of the current law, are leading to "medical injustices, social injustices and health policy issues."
"We have to get this fixed, we are prosecuting patients, and we're prosecuting parents for choosing a delivery method for medicinal marijuana that may be a safer and more practical alternative than smoking.
"These aren't criminals. They're patients. They're people. We have to remember that."
As per High Times, during the 2015 High Times Michigan Cannabis Cup, many products that were sold lacks lab testing, proper labeling and some doesn't even have basic information such as the ingredients, allergy warnings and company contact listings.
Though Michigan Medical Marijuana act doesn't specifically state that edibles should be illegal, it is still important to be extra cautious in marketing the edibles. Numerous activists in Michigan are currently making an effort I having the marijuana law clarified.
As per attorney Matt Abel,"Pending House Bill 4210 would clearly allow extracts, edibles and infused products, "Currently, there's nothing in the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act about edibles.
