Facebook has reportedly shut down the page of a Pennsylvania firearms store that was advertising an AR-15 giveaway according to The Huffington Post.
The assault rifle giveaway was part of supporting the Second Amendment.
Erik Lowry, who owns Pittsburg Tactical Firearms in McKeesport, Pa., said his Facebook page was shut down on Firday, following the AR-15 giveaway.
The page had 27,000 likes and Lowry is claiming to be losing thousands of dollars a day.
"You know, most pages get warnings. We didn't even get a warning. It was just gone," Lowry said according to WTAE.
The gun store gained some attention back in February, when they gave away rounds of ammunition and high-capacity clips in exchange for "Liking" their page.
However, Lowry said there is more to the contest than simply "Liking" the page and then receiving the gun or ammunition.
"People were thinking if you won, I was just going to send a gun to your front door. It just doesn't work that way," he said. "If you win a firearm from us, you come to the store, and as long as you pass a background check, you walk out with your gun."
He went on to explain to NewsRadio 1020 KDKA that AR-15's come in handy for customers to "defend themselves from a tyrannical government."
Lowry believes the misconception of the contest has led to his page being shutdown and says he is now contacting the NRA for legal council.
A Facebook rep disagrees with Lowry, who told Vocative that since a page is considered an ad, it is in violation of the site's terms.
"Our Ad Guidelines prohibit promotion of the sale of weapons and the Ad Guidelines apply to Pages with commercial content on them," a Facebook rep said. "Ads may not promote the sale or use of weapons, ammunition, or explosives."
