Channing Tatum’s X-Men Spinoff Gambit, Loses Director Rupert Wyatt

Rupert Wyatt, is an English writer and film director who helmed the American science fiction film Rise of the Planet of the Apes for 20th Century Fox.

Recently Rupert Wyatt boarded to helm Gambit, the spinoff of X-Men however the film's budget soared as the script underwent changes.

The film's production was supposed to kick off in November, but has now been postponed to early 2016 prompting the departure of Rupert Wyatt.

Rupert Wyatt said in a statement, "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project," Rupert Wyatt added, "I thank them for the opportunity and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film."

With this statement, we gather that Wyatt is leaving simply bacause of the 'timing issue' and not as the rumors have indicated. 

And although Rupert Wyatt has already left the Gambit film, 20th Century Fox confirmed that the film is still moving forward - as the American film studio expects a new director to hop in to take his place.

As to why poduction has not pushed through, they did not give an official account, but with the recent reports about the balooning budget, it's highly probable that the script is indeed being revised to keep the cost levels in check. 

Chris Claremont, together with Jim Lee created the Gambit character in 1990, where Gambit is an expert card-thrower with the capability to mentally handle kinetic energy.

The producers of the upcoming X-Men spinoff, Gambit are the the American actor, dancer, and model - Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and the American screenwriter and film producer - Simon Kinberg.

Gambit is slated to hit theaters on October 7, 2016, and it will be the eighth "X-Men" film by 20th Century Fox.
