Emily Blunt Is Now A U.S. Citizen, Says It's 'A Terrible Mistake'

British actress Emily Blunt has been getting a lot of reactions after announcing she just became a U.S. citizen on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday night.

"I hope you know we're thrilled that you are one of us now," Kimmel told Blunt. "We Americans... We always get the sense that when people come here from England, they kinda look down their noses on us," he said.

"Oh we do, very much." she told the host. "Because we're better than you," she joked. "But now I'm on the half-better."

"Well people ask me about the whole day, they were like 'Oh it must have been so emotional,'" she continued. "I was like 'it wasn't, it was sad!' I like being British. It was like the most bizarre day!"

The 32-year-old actress also told Kimmel she had to renounce Queen Elizabeth II and take a written citizenship test to acquire her dual-citizenship.

"It is the hardest test I've ever had to take. I guarantee most Americans would have no idea how to answer any of these questions," she added.

Her British humor then started to offend American TV hosts when she joked about regretting to obtain her new citizenship in another interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"I became an American citizen recently and that night we decided to watch the Republican debate, and I thought this was a terrible mistake. What have I done?" Blunt said.

Fox and Friends hosts Anna Kooiman and Brian Kilmeade didn't take her joke well as Kooiman told the actress to "leave Hollywood".

"Let some American women take on the roles that you're getting, because Americans are watching your movies and lining your pockets," she said.

Kilmeade seconded the motion saying, "You know what Emily Blunt just did? She just Dixie Chicked herself," he said. "She has alienated half the country that now will think twice about going to one of her movies."

Blunt is currently being bashed on social media after her anti-American comments.
