Spanish clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid still may meet in the coveted UEFA Champions League final this year as the semifinal draws came in. However, it could also be a Bundesliga event if the Spanish clubs don't pull through.
Barcelona will play Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund, CNN reported.
"It's our chance to show that Bayern Munich has improved since 2009 (when Barcelona beat Bayern 4-0) and that we can now compare ourselves to the best teams," Bayern honorary president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told reporters. "It will be a good comparison between the Bundesliga and the Spanish league."
Last season Real and Dortmund won the Spanish and German league titles, respectively.
This year though, Real has been sluggish, trailing Barcelona by 13 points in league play. They did beat Barca in the Spanish Cup semifinals though.
Dortmund has also had their struggles, trailing Bayern by a whopping 20 points in league play. However, a Champions League title will change the look of their whole season.
Real and Dortmund previously met in the UEFA group stage, where the German club beat Real 2-1 at home and tied Madrid 2-2 away. They finished first in that group.
The Barcelona and Bayern match should be equally interesting, as the Catalan's former coach, Pep Guardiola, will step in for Bayern's Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season.
Real is currently chasing their 10th Cup title, last winning in 2002. Barcelona and Bayern both stand at four and Dortmund has won the title once back in 1997.
The semifinals will be played on April 23 and 24 with return legs on April 30 and May 1.
