'Once Upon A Time' Creators Adam Horowitz And Edward Kitsis Tease About Season 5! What Will Happen To Emma? [SPOILERS]

The season finale of 'Once Upon a Time' was truly heartbreaking, as Emma (Jennifer Morrison) sacrificed herself to save Storybrooke. However, the act came at a price as she ultimately emerged as the Dark One.

Fans are now wondering what could happen in the fifth season when the heroine has turned into the villain and, if one is to believe the latest image from 'Once Upon a Time,' is allegedly working with Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle).

Luckily, 'Once Upon a Time' creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis spoke to Yahoo TV to tease about the events that will happen in Season Five.

But first things first: Why is Emma hanging out with Rumplestiltskin when Mr. Gold is still in a coma?

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

"The context of how they're together won't really reveal itself to the fans until they see the premiere," Horowitz said. "If we're going to have Emma be the Dark One, we're going to dive into Dark One mythology."

Kitsis does offer a small hint. "You are going to see flashbacks on being the Dark One, that is what I will say," he said.

So now that Emma is the bad guy in 'Once Upon a Time,' who could possibly be the hero? Kitsis reveals that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

"We're going to see Henry is going from being a little kid to a young man," Kitsis said. "We're going to see him take on more responsibilities."

The EP also confirmed that Emma's son is now growing into a young man.

"As well, we're going to see Henry have his very first crush," Kitsis added. "You can't go to Camelot and not fall in love!"

So now we know Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Lucas) are on a mission to help Emma. But who could possibly help them in their journey through Camelot?

"We always loved the idea of Merlin," Kitsis admitted. "Last season, we teased the idea of the Sorcerer. For us, thematically, Camelot plays into a lot of the things we're going for. Just as fans, it's a fun world to do."

'Once Upon a Time' returns to ABC on September 27.
