Rachel McAdams 2015: ‘True Detective’ Star Joins Marvel Cinematic Universe On Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘Doctor Strange’ With Tilda Swinton!

Production of Marvel's second film of 2016 is gearing up to begin filming, and more and more rumors regarding the "Doctor Strange" cast can be been heard around, with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen supposedly being up for roles, though still unconfirmed - unlike Rachel McAdams' 2015 involvement!

For the 37 year-old Canadian actress, Rachel McAdams' 2015 has been huge, with a number of projects lining up in her schedule, with five movies lined up for this year aside from her performance as Detective Ani Bezzerides in the second season of HBO's highly acclaimed show "True Detective," and a new role for next year has been confirmed as she officially joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to The Wrap, Rachel McAdams' 2015 involvement in the Benedict Cumberbatch-led film has been rumored for weeks, but it's only now that Ryan Gosling's former love can confirm her role in the superhero movie.

As Time Magazine reports, while Rachel McAdams' 2015 involvement in the film, which starts shooting next November, has been officially confirmed, neither Disney nor Marvel have stated what exactly will the Canadian actress' role be in the franchise, which centers around Stephen Strange (played by Oscar nominee Cumberbatch), a neurosurgeon who suffers a grave accident that leads him to a mystical pursuit (under the wing of The Ancient One, played by Academy Award winner Swinton), leading Strange to become the Sorcerer Supreme.

When rumors of Rachel McAdams' 2015 talks to join the MCU started, Cinema Blendcompiled a list of possible characters the actress could be playing in the film, including sorceress Clea (who was once married to Strange in the comics), Victoria Bentley, Morgana Blessing, one of the Vishanti or even an original character.

In any case, for next year McAdams will also star in the third film of Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" version starring Marvel's Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law - interestingly enough, Cumberbatch also gives life to the famous detective in the BBC's modernized version of the story.

In any case, there's no doubt that Rachel McAdams' 2015 has bee a big one - she's even reportedly dating Jake Gyllenhaal!
