M Night Shymalan's 'The Visit' Proudly Reaches a Whooping $25.6 million on its Premiere

M Night Shyamalan's is back on the headlines as he was able to pull off another box office worthy horror film. The Visit is making it way unto it's $30th million box office on a $5 million budget.

The Visit is the famous director's 14th film. And it gathered numerous praises and positive reviews as Shyamalans was able to ace the film's concept. As per Vulture [NYMAG.COM] , "a found found footage style horror comedy about scary grandparents doing scary things in the barren countryside of Pennsylvania, earned a surprisingly food $25.6 million its opening weekend."

The director himself funded the movie as he was also the producer and the writer for the film. He got his funding using his $5 million directing fee for After Earth, one of his movies from 2013 which earned $224 million in the box office.

As per reports, The Perfect Guy was able to beat The Visit by $1 million; The Visit however was able to gather numerous positive reviews. It was then reported that the film earned more money on Saturday as it did on Friday. The Visit is said to be one of the best weekend multipliers for a horror film in the last 20 years as it managed to get a 15% increase over the weekend.

The Visit revolves around the adventure of two kids who traveled to their grandparents' rural farm located in Pennsylvania. Becca, a 15 year old who is portrayed by Olivia DeJonge, an aspiring film maker and 8 year old Tyler who dreams of being a rapper and a dedicated smart ass.


Their grandparents don't know about them as their mom ran away from home and hasn't reconnected with her parents over the past 15 years. Their mission is to reconcile both grandparents and their mother so that their mom can have a better life.
