Manchester United Sign New Multi-Million Dollar Sponsorship Deal with Aon, Renames Training Facility

The worlds most valuable football club, according to Forbes, has signed a new multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with U.S. insurance company Aon.

This is just one of 36 other sponsors that have signed on with United as part of a marketing strategy aimed at driving up revenue through sponsorship deals, CNN said.

United's total revenue last year was the highest of any Premier League club at around $179 million or £117.6 million.

The team has other sponsors such as Indonesian tire makers, PT Multistrada Arah Sarana Tbk, and China Construction Bank.

Aon already have their name displayed on the front of United's main kits and the new deal will now put their name on the teams training ground kits as well. The new deal will also put Aon's name on the teams' training ground complex, which was formerly known as United's Carrington training ground. It will now be referred to as Aon Training Complex.

This marks the first time a Premier League team has sold its' training ground name.

The eight-year contract, running up until 2021, is reportedly worth $23 million a season or £15 million.

"I am delighted that this cements our relationship with Aon for a further eight years," Manchester United Commercial Director Richard Arnold said in a statement.

Aon echoed the sentiments of United.

"This announcement is the next step in the evolution of our partnership with Manchester United," said Aon's Global Chief of Marketing Officer Phil Clement.

As part of the deal, manager Alex Ferguson will also wear Aon branded training kits at all domestic fixtures and during training sessions. As mentioned previously, Aon already is the club's main kit sponsor, but Chevrolet will take over those duties for the 2014-2015 season.

Currently, Manchester United are set to win their 20th league title. They have a 15-point lead over rivals Machester City, who won the league last year.

The team is owned by the American Glazer famly.
