Colin Trevorrow Is Already Working On 'Star Wars Episode IX!'

The 'Star Wars' franchise is definitely on a roll!

Lucasfilm has recently confirmed that 'Episode VIII' is getting ready to begin principal photography in Ireland although the project has yet to cast one of the new female leads. Now it looks like the third film in the highly awaited 'Star Wars' trilogy is also in the works.

Director Colin Trevorrow has just posted an interesting photo on Twitter, showing a Lucasfilm journal. The caption simply read, "Back to school. #IX," but it immediately got people congratulating the 'Jurassic World' director and offering movie-making tips like "just remember to match eyelines and don't break the 180 line."

Colin Trevorrow's involvement in 'Star Wars Episode IX' was announced at the recent Disney D23 Expo, where Walt Disney Studios chairman Allan Horn made the announcement. The 'Safety Not Guaranteed' director expressed his excitement over joining the project.

"This is not a job or an assignment. It is a seat at a campfire, surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists and craftspeople," Trevorrow said in a statement. "We've been charged with telling new stories for a younger generation because they deserve what we all had-a mythology to call their own. We will do this by channeling something George Lucas instilled in all of us: boundless creativity, pure invention and hope."

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke highly of Colin Trevorrow.

"Colin is someone I've been interested in working with ever since I saw 'Safety Not Guaranteed,'" Kennedy said. "The power of that film paired with the enormous success of 'Jurassic World' speaks volumes about his abilities both as a storyteller and skilled filmmaker. We are thrilled to have such an incredible talent as Colin join our family and step into the Star Wars universe."

Although 'Star Wars Episode IX' is still a long way from production, Colin Trevorrow is currently meeting with the other 'Star Wars' directors. 'Episode IX' is scheduled for release in 2019.
