Long before Jake Gyllenhaal became one of the top actors in Hollywood with one Oscar nomination under his name and Taylor Swift in his dating history, he was a child who loved to eat fried chicken (like just about all children), and when a fast food chain discontinued his favorite menu item, Jake Gyllenhaal's KFC response came loud and clear.
As the 34 year-old actor is currently at the Toronto Film Festival to promote his latest film, "Demolition," a movie in which his character writes many complaint letters to a vending machine company's customer service, and Gyllenhaal was of course asked whether he'd ever done anything of the like, which is when Jake Gyllenhaal's KFC story came to light.
According to Entertainment Tonight Online, Jake Gyllenhaal's KFC feud began when, as a kid, the fried chicken fast food chain discontinued a long-running menu item, their Chicken Littles, which evidently made the future actor very unhappy.
As Vanity Fair reports, at the time of Jake Gyllenhaal's KFC unhappiness in the early 1990s, the actor had just learned in school how to write complaint letters to companies, so he decided to take matters into his own hands and get to writing, sending a letter to the chain founded by Colonel Sanders.
"When I was a little child, I was at school and we were supposed to learn how to write letters and complaint letters," said the actor, according to E! Online, recounting Jake Gyllenhaal's KFC experience growing up. "And so I decided to write to Kentucky Fried Chicken and tell them that I was upset that they had discontinued Chicken Littles, which were a particular type of mini hamburger with fried chicken in the middle of it."
Of course, eventually, his complaint, along with letters sent by many others, was successful, as back in 2012 the chain actually re-launched the item, only giving it a makeover.
So, definitely, Jake Gyllenhaal's KFC beef ended on good terms!
