Fox's hit hip-hop drama series, 'Empire' is about to get bigger now that they've added a new cast member to join the team. Vivica Fox is officially part of the cast playing the role of Cookie's (played by Taraji P. Henson) older sister.
Entertainment Weekly says that her appearance on the show is because she was looking for Cookie all this time, but the reason why was not revealed. Last season, Cookie's other sister was already on the show. Ilene Chaiken explained, "Cookie's other family members are troublesome to say the least."
That alone could give fans a clue that Fox's character won't exactly be a pleasant one for Cookie. She will appear on the 8th episode of this season according to Jezebel.com.
Fox's new character on the show even brought some ideas to co-creator Lee Daniels who said he is looking at a spin-off that focuses on Cookie's family during her younger years.
Empire is now known for having huge names as part of their guest stars including Mariah Carey, Ludacris, Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Marisa Tomei.
Speaking of Marisa Tomei, The Daily Mail reported that her character on the show will definitely be a game changer and it is something that fans won't expect. According to the report, she will play a lesbian billionaire whose goal is to steal Cookie away from Lucious (played by Terrence Howard) this coming season.
For those who have watched the show closely, there was a time when she admitted that she had a lesbian relationship while she was in jail a long time ago.
Tomei will play the role of Mimi Whiteman, who will meet with Cookie early in the season where the two of them would deal with some business.
Catch the all new season of Empire on September 23, 9PM via Fox.
