Kraft Meets With Food Bloggers About Mac & Cheese Yellow Food Dye

Charlotte food blogger Vani Hari, who runs www.FoodBabe.com, recently gathered up her supporters and headed over to Kraft headquarters in Chicago to talk to executives about the yellow food dye they are using in their Mac & Cheese.

Apparently, Kraft is making an effort in "dumping the dyes," according to Fox Charlotte.

"In the UK, Kraft reformulated the product without artificial dyes," Hari said.

"In the US, Kraft uses Yellow #5 and Yellow #6," according to Fox, which are linked to a number of diseases.

In Hari's research, she found the dyes are made from petroleum in labs that also processess leads to carcinogens. Other studies have linked the artificial coloring to hyperactivity in children.

Altogether she gathered 275,000 signatures on a petition to stop the use of these dangerous yellow dyes.

"We can't predict the future," Kraft said, according to Hari.

During the meeting, many of Hari's questions about the yellow dye went unanswered.

"Why did you re-formulate Kraft Mac and Cheese overseas but not here?'", the Kraft executive said "couldn't answer that question..."

Hari isn't stopping here. After the hour-long meeting, she put out a very positive mention in regards to change.

"What companies do is they say, 'no, no, no, no,' right before they say 'yes,'" she said.
