Sia to Direct Her First Film, Stars Maddie Ziegler

Australian singer-songwriter, Sia is taking a her art into a whole new level as she ventures into filmmaking with her favorite tween star and dancer, Maddie Ziegler.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pop icon revealed her plans of directing her first ever movie based on a story she wrote eight years ago, "I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I wanted to make a movie because I thought it would be seen as a vanity project because I was a singer," she said. It was only this weekend that she got the chance to tell the public about her plans, upon realizing her potential in directing after her 'Chandelier' video, which she directed, became a hit.

Following her successful collaborations for her three equally moving videos Chandelier," "Elastic Heart," and "Big Girls Cry,  Sia also announced that the Dance Moms tween star, Maddie Ziegler, will star in the said film with a working title "Sister".

As the project is on the works, Sia also consulted her friend and children's author, Dallas Clayton to help her write the screenplay. She also noted that she has seen similarities between songwriting and screenwriting, "For me, the process was basically, I work out the movie. I'll act it out, I'll have the dialogue already in my head," Sia explained, "It's really the formatting. ... I can't be bothered to learn Final Draft. I'm not a technical person. Like, when I sing, I just want to sing the melody and write the lyrics. I don't want to have to do production, which is very technical. I don't enjoy that," she continues to say that Clayton would take notes, give her feedbacks and fine-tune her ideas. "What I do enjoy is the creative process," she added.

Sia, did not make mention of the plot nor the release date of the said movie.
