Waco police said that a woman was found with a fully loaded pistol in her vagina after officers searched her during a traffic stop Monday.
The uncanny incident of the woman hiding a gun in her vagina occurred just before 11 p.m. CT Monday. Waco, Texas cops reportedly Ashley Cecilia Castaneda and boyfriend Gabriel Garcia at a stoplight on 15th and Blair in north Waco following a traffic violation. The couple were inside a 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser when they were arrested. Upon further examination, the car was found containing 29.5 grams of methamphetamine and Castaneda's purse was found with a set of digital scales, according to USA Today.
Since the two were arrested thin 1,000 feet of an elementary school, they were charged with possession of methamphetamine in a drug-free zone, according to Sgt. Patrick Swanton of Waco police.
Much to the officers' surprise, the drugs weren't the highlight of this story. Castaneda confessed that she hid a gun in her vagina while the cops were taking the couple to jail.
"They pulled to the side of the road, the officers got out, asked her where the gun was, and the female said, 'it's between my legs'," said Swanton.
Following a thorough pat-down, indeed police discovered that the 31-year-old woman had hidden a gun in her vagina.
"A female officer searched Castaneda discovering she had in fact placed a loaded Smith and Wesson pistol inside her body cavity," Swanton told KWTX 10.
"The weapon had a round chambered and a full magazine of bullets," Waco police department stated on its Facebook page, attracting the attention of hundreds of netizens.
The gun hidden in the woman's vagina was found to have weighed about six ounces (170 grams). It was also under 5 inches (12 centimeters) in length, about the same size as an iPhone 6 with a thick case, reported the AFP.
The gun hidden in the woman's vagina was a .22 caliber Smith & Wesson. It remains unclear whether the gun in the vagina had its safety engaged.
Fortunately, the incident was resolved in a non-deadly manner, since Swanton said it "could've been extremely dangerous for everybody involved."
Surprisingly, he added that this kind of situation is common, which is why officers need to give thorough pat-downs.
"People don't believe this happens in real life. It happens much more than your average citizen would ever know," he said.
The woman who hid a gun in her vagina was charged with manufacturing/delivery of an illegal substance as well as unlawfully "carrying" a weapon. Both she and her boyfriend were also charged with possession, according to Mashable.
