Lil Wayne Epilepsy: New Orleans Rapper Addresses Recent Seizures In LA

Lil Wayne gave everyone a scare last week when TMZ reported that he overdosed on "Sizzurp" and was near death and being read his last rights.

The blogosphere immediately erupted due to the outrageous claims and on Thursday, Lil Wayne finally addressed what actually happened during those tumultuous days.

"The thing is, man, the bad news is, I'm an epileptic, I'm prone to seizures," he told Power 106's DJ Felli Fel. "This isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures; y'all just never hear about them. This time it got real bad because I had three of 'em in a row, and on the third one, my heart rate went down to, like, 30 percent. Basically, I could've died. So, that's why it was so serious."

Wayne said that his seizures were brought on by overworking and had nothing to do with the codeine-laced beverage, "Sizzurp", according to The Huffington Post.

"Sizzurp" or "Syrup" is a popular drink of choice in the South, which was made popular by Pimp C and DJ Screw, who both died due to complications relating to the drug.

"Thats what they do. I can't be upset at that," said Wayne about the TMZ reports. "I get upset at my kids when they do things that I tell 'em not to do; I can't get upset at TMZ for doing what they do. The truth isn't good enough for them, so they gotta twist everything up."

Young Money President Mack Maine and CEO's Baby and Slim have all denied the situation was related to drugs.

"I was actually sitting right next to him, honestly, when it happened, and his mom was in the other room, and his face dropped," Maine said on March 20. "I just saw it in his face, like, 'I can't believe that.'"

Wayne is currently teaming up with T.I. and Future for the America's Most Wanted Tour.
