Local Fox reporter Mark Zinni tweeted his impression of Today Show host Matt Lauer, describing Lauer as "not so nice" during his time interning for Lauer. After seeing the tweet, Lauer responded graciously: "@MarkZinni huh? Always tried to be nice Mark. Sorry you didn't think so. Hope you're doing well. Matt."
Of course, Lauer has been out of the public's good graces since his feud with then-co-host Ann Curry became public after her very public firing. Lauer has been blamed for not helping Curry to retain her job, and recent reports place the blame on him for undermining her. Lauer reportedly did not like her style, and considered her part of the reason for poor ratings.
The ratings slide continues now, and Lauer has apparently even reached out to rival network ABC to see if he can get an offer. Anderson Cooper has been mentioned as a possible replacement when Lauer's contract ends in 2014.

It seems Zinni is not lacking in brightness, as he took the opportunity to plug his show.
WITH ALL THIS ATTENTION, I'D BE FOOLISH NOT TO PLUG MY NUMBER-1 RATED WEEKEND MORNING SHOW ON #FOX8NEWS. And yes, I AM YELLING. — Mark Zinni (@MarkZinni) March 28, 2013
And, Zinni for his part kept a light heart at the situation:
Will this be on my tombstone?
