Colt McCoy may not be a Brown for much longer, Cleveland.com reported.
"The Browns will listen to offers...to trade or release backup quarterback Colt McCoy," the website said. "McCoy might want an opportunity to be higher than third on a team's depth chart."
According to Cleveland.com, McCoy no longer fits the offensive system in place. The once promising young quarterback led Oklahoma to a BCS National Championship in 2009 against Alabama, hasn't really found his groove in the NFL.
A bit undersized, most NFL teams showed no interest in the star college quarterback. He was taken in the third round of the NFL Draft in 2009 by the Browns.
During his tenure, McCoy appeared in only 21 games in three seasons.
With the hiring of new coach Rob Chudzinksi in January and a lack of playing time last year due to the Browns drafting quarterback Brandon Weeden in the first round, McCoy may no longer be needed on the struggling franchise's roster and will be given a fresh opportunity elsewhere.
According to NFL.com, the Browns have also signed former first round pick Jason Campbell.
Campbell was originally drafted by Washington, but last played with Oakland and then with Chicago last year.
Although the Browns have made no official announcement, they are listening to offers as previously mentioned and McCoy is expected to be traded or released sometime before mini-camp begins.
