Josh Daniel, did a rendition of Labrinth's "Jealous", when he auditioned for The X-Factor UK 2015 last month.
While Josh was performing many have observed Simon Cowell, the English television talent judge and mentor, being greatly affected by it. People claimed seeing tears roll down the judge's cheeks and Simon tried to get hold of himself by gulping down on the glass of water he had in his hands. He actually left the show early.
No one knew then, why Simon Cowell was brought to tears during Daniel's performance, but many speculated that Simon must have been thinking about his mother who passed away just days before.
During the appearance of Simon Cowell on "Loose Women" together with his fellow The X-Factor UK judges Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw, Cowell did admit that it was indeed the thought of his mother that brought the tears.
Simon Cowell stated, "I mean it was quite near when it all happened," further saying, "I think it was the last audition and I wasn't really expecting what happened and of course the [lyrics] of the song and it was quite difficult because I thought, 'God this is going to be really hard to sit through this. But then you've got to think of him [Daniel] and it's his moment but yes it was very emotional."
The song spoke about lost-love, so Cowell was naturally overwhelmed by it. He went on to say, that the reason why he went back to work, just two days after his mother's death, was because he knew for a fact, that it was what she would have him do.
Simon said his 89 year old mother loved X Factor. "She was a huge fan of the show, she loved the show which sort of made the decision, 'When do you go back to work on something like this?' because it's hard and it really was what I thought she would have said to me which was,'No 100 per cent you've got to go back to work."
Nick Grimshaw, the British television and radio presenter, supported Cowell and stated that, this is exactly the reason why they are in the show, there's nothing like witnessing such moments, when people get so moved by the performance they become emotional.
