‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Cast: Mark Ruffalo Won’t Join ‘Civil War,’ Will ‘Planet Hulk’ Storyline Happen? Director James Gunn Speaks Up!

While the people behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe are well known for being secretive, director James Gunn, who helmed one of their biggest hits to date, usually seems more willing to share than his fellow filmmakers in the franchise, as he's made a few interesting revelations regarding the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" cast.

While the main players of the original film, such as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper have already been confirmed as part of the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" cast, fans of the franchise and the comic books it's based on have seen a glimmer of hope in the past few weeks: will Mark Ruffalo, also known as The Incredible Hulk, be part of the sequel to the 2014 movie?

According to Den of Geek, this won't be the case, as Gunn, ever the fanboy himself, recently ruled out two popular theories regarding the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" cast: on a Q&A on Twitter, he said The Hulk would not be joining the film.

A few days back, Ruffalo said his character had been cut from next year's "Captain America: Civil War," a film that will co-star most of the big Earth players of the MCU, including Robert Downey Jr. and recent addition Paul Rudd; as Ruffalo said there was good reason The Hulk wouldn't be present in the film, International Business Times reports that many wondered the MCU would be following the iconic "Hulk Planet" storyline as part of the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" cast.

Hypable reports that Gunn just finished the second draft of the sequel, and he's officially announced that the only Earthling on the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" cast will be Star Lord, played by Pratt, therefore also discarding theories of a Captain Marvel appearance.

In all, it has been said the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" cast won't involve too many new characters, and Gunn has said in fact it will be more focused on the original characters, who will get "MORE personal time" than they did in the first movie.
