Johnny Depp’s Film Black Mass Cut Out Actress Sienna Miller

The English actress, model and fashion designer, who was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2008, Sienna Miller, got cut out of Johnny Depp's highly anticipated film Black Mass.

Scott Cooper, the film's director confirmed the move with Boston Globe on Thursday. He stated that the actress was "fantastic" in the role, but for "narrative" reasons they had to cut out her scenes.

'It came down to narrative choices' he said.

In the film, Sienna Miller plays the role of Catherine Greig, who had a romantic relationship with the famous Boston gangster Whitey Bulger. She lived with him but eventually got herself in prison for helping him out evade the law.

Cooper further said that Greig being with Bulger, during his fugitive life was not that dramatic. In an interview, she did describe her role as a cameo, herself.

Last year she told the Globe in an interview, "I shot for two weeks, it's really a cameo. It's not a leading role,"

Having said that, she continued to put a good deal of preparation for the role. Since there was not enough resource material about Catherine Greig that she can learn from, she instead went around Boston, interviewing people who knew the couple first hand.

"There are some photographs, but no recordings of her voice or footage," she remarked. Further adding, 'I read as much as I could about Whitey, and there's tons of stuff about him. I spoke to some people here who knew him and knew her. She was quite a character from South Boston.'

The real life Grieg lived with Bulger for his 16 years , while he was on the run from the law. She was sentenced to eight years in prison for helping him evade capture when he was finally caught in 2011.

Black Mass will be shown in the US on September 18.
