Avril Lavigne announced that she and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger were amicably separating after two years of marriage on September 2. But was there trouble on the horizon before then? Chad reportedly partied with another woman at Miami hotspot E11EVEN on August 18.
According to an eyewitness, , Kroeger and an unidentified woman spent several hours at Miami's E11even night club.
“Chad came in with a woman and a security guard. He was down in the party pit by the stage, definitely out in clear, plain view – not in the private back VIP areas,” an insider tells Us Weekly of the singer.
“He was saying that there aren’t that many places for him to go in Miami, he was happy to be there and be chill. He and the girl had a great time, they were dancing.”
The insider adds that he stayed at the club until 5 a.m. While Avril announced the news of their split on September 2, it appears that the singers had gone their separate ways even before then.
Early on in their marriage, Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne revealed a set of rules for making it work during their time apart from one another.
"We don't want to go anywhere that you're asking for trouble," Kroeger said about avoiding nightclubs. "[And] we don't drink alcohol when we are apart."
Avril added: "When you have something special, you can't take it for granted and be careless with it."
But Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne already hit some bumps in their marriage after being married for just one year. Chad didn’t even celebrate Avril’s 30th birthday with her, and there was a time she wasn’t even wearing her huge 17-carat ring.
However, at least it was a peaceful split. “It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,” she wrote on Instagram, announcing the news.
“Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you for your support.”
Avril Lavigne married the the 40-year-old rockstar in July 2013. The 30-year-old singer was previously married to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010.
