Queen Flakes: A Peek Inside Queen Elizabeth's Daily Morning Routine

On September 9, Queen Elizabeth will set the record as the longest-reigning British monarch in history. In commemoration of the momentous event, Kellogg's created Queen Flakes, a limited edition cereal mixed with gold-leaf cornflakes, the Queen's favourite macadamia nuts, and edible diamonds and pearls.

The majestic box of cereal is exclusively available at Black Milk Cereal Cafe in Manchester at £6.30.

The 89-year-old Royal likes cornflakes for breakfast.

People Magazine reports the Queen's morning routine has never changed through her 63-year reign.

Waking up at 7:30 AM, the Queen immediately tunes into BBC Radio 4's Today program. According to At Home With The Queen author Brian Hoey, "she loves to hear British politicians being grilled by the presenters."

A maid then comes in with a "calling tray" to serve Twinning's English breakfast tea with milk and no sugar in a bone china cup and saucer. The Queen likes Marie cookies with her tea, too.

After a good bath, the mother of two then sits with husband, 94-year-old Prince Philip for her favourite breakfast. The Royal couple has been married for 68 years.

As she reads the papers, the Queen, who passionately loves horses, would first pick Racing Post.

"She not only loves them but she understands them in every aspect. Horse psychology is not the right word but she understands how they feel and how they react," said 81-year-old Oswald, who takes care of the Queen's horses.

"She is a country person, and if she had not been who she was she would be living in the country with horses and lots of dog," according to the Queen's cousin, 90-year-old Margaret Rhodes.

The Queen keeps up with horse racing, too. "If it's during the racing season and she's been busy during the day, then somebody will put together a recording of the races that day," Hoey said. "Particularly, if one of her horses has been running."
