Maws cited [via Bob Appetit website] numerous points on why restaurants should pay attention in giving kids the meals they deserve.

Two of the most important reasons are:

Kids Should Eat Real Food

Kids deserve real food, if they would order the chicken in the menu; give them what they ordered for. Kids now a days are more conscious when it comes to their health choices.

"I understand that different parents feed their kids different things, and I don't want to be on a pedestal about it, but I have a strong opinion about what everybody should eat. I had a conversation with my son, who was five at the time, and what I ultimately decided was that if we were going to serve chicken, it's going to be the same chicken that's on the adults' menu."

Training Palates

The best way to train you child's taste buds is to give them good food at a young age. Teach them to eat the right diet and they'll eventually get used to making the right food choices.

The chef of Top 50 Best New Restaurant nominee Southbound in Richmond, Joe Sparatta stated:

"Allowing kids to eat like regular people is a good step to getting them to eat healthier and think about these things in a different way. So we serve them something a little different that won't freak them out."
